I propose a Youth-Centred Open Legislative Information and Participation Policy for Oyo State to ensure that young people have access to legislative information and meaningful opportunities to influence decisions that affect their future.
The policy would establish youth-friendly digital platforms to publish proposed bills, passed laws, legislative proceedings, and budget information in simple, accessible language. It would also introduce regular youth legislative forums, school and community civic education programmes, and structured consultations between young people and lawmakers.
As young people make up a significant part of our population, their voices must be reflected in policymaking. This policy would empower youth to understand their rights, contribute to legislation, monitor government performance, and hold public officials accountable.
By institutionalising youth participation and promoting transparency, Oyo State can build a more informed, engaged, and responsible generation of leaders while strengthening democratic governance for the future.
