Lagos State urgently needs stronger enforcement of laws protecting People Living with HIV (PLHIV) from workplace discrimination, breaches of confidentiality, and unfair dismissal because of their HIV status.
I urge the Lagos State Government to strengthen awareness and enforcement of existing protections, establish accessible complaint mechanisms, and impose appropriate sanctions on organisations that violate the rights of PLHIV. No citizen should face discrimination because of their health status. Protecting confidentiality, employment rights, and equal opportunities will promote dignity, mental well-being, and access to healthcare.
This policy will advance SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and contribute to a more inclusive society where everyone can live and work free from stigma and discrimination.
