Biography
Osita Bonaventure Izunaso is a Nigerian politician, journalist, and lawyer from Imo State. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a law degree from the University of Abuja. Izunaso began his political career in the 1990s, serving as Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the House of Representatives and later to the Senate President. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1999, representing Oru West/Oru East/Orsu Federal Constituency.
In 2007, he was elected Senator for Imo West (Orlu Zone) under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), where he chaired key committees, including Housing and Urban Development. Known for his advocacy on issues of social inclusion, Izunaso founded the Kpakpando Foundation for Persons with Disabilities, which provides empowerment and healthcare support for Nigerians with disabilities.
He later joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) and served as National Organizing Secretary. In 2023, he returned to the Senate, again representing Imo West, focusing on governance reforms and social welfare.
