Biography
Senator Jiya’s political journey began in 1999 when he was elected as a Member of the House of Representatives, representing his constituency until 2007. During this period, he was actively involved in various legislative committees, including Banking & Currency, Justice, and Capital Market Institutions. He also served as Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Banking & Currency and later chaired the Inter-Parliamentary Relations Committee. He was elected as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023, where he currently serves. In the Senate, he holds key positions as Vice Chairman of the Senate Committees on Aviation and Capital Markets.
