Summary & Analysis
This 2024 law amends the 2019 Principal Law to strengthen penalties and procedures against land grabbing. It establishes a task force and imposes five years imprisonment plus a fine of 10% of the property’s value upon conviction. Family land sales must follow local customs, with documents signed by the family head and secretary, and payments made into a designated family bank account. Alienation of private or community land requires a registered layout and a Certificate of Value from a licensed estate surveyor. The law also prohibits the use of unregistered surveyors or valuers for land transactions.
