Biography

Hon. Lanre Okunlola is a Nigerian architect, legislator, and grassroots advocate, currently serving as the Member of the House of Representatives for Surulere II Federal Constituency in Lagos State. Elected in the 2023 general elections under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he brings decades of professional and civic experience to national governance. Born and raised in Lagos, Okunlola attended Surulere Baptist School and Methodist Boys High School. He went on to earn both a Bachelor and Master of Science in Architecture from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, completing his studies by 1990. Before venturing into politics, Okunlola was deeply involved in community-based urban design and development, leveraging his architectural expertise to solve local challenges. Since assuming office in June 2023, Okunlola has sponsored over 12 bills and introduced several motions aimed at advancing national development. Notable among these are the Nigeria Social Investment Regulation Agency Bill, the Nigeria Climate Change Fund Bill, and a bill for the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre in Orile, Lagos.
