Biography
Senator Aminu Iya Abbas represents Adamawa Central Senatorial District in Nigeria's 10th Senate. Born in 1973 in Yola, Adamawa State, he hails from Uba in Hong LGA. He holds a B.Sc. in Accounting (2000) and a Master’s in Treasury Management (2008) from Bayero University, Kano. A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), he is also a Certified Fraud Examiner and Forensic Auditor. His professional experience includes roles at Sigma Securities, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Africa Petroleum, and KPMG.
Elected in 2023, Senator Abbas previously served as Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly from 2019 to 2023. He chairs the Senate Committee on Science and Technology and has sponsored motions addressing regional flooding and security issues.
